What are the salary thresholds for an Employment Pass Malaysia?

Effective 1 June 2026:

• Category I requires a fixed monthly salary of RM20,000 and above, valid for up to 10 years.
• Category II covers RM10,000 to RM19,999, valid for up to 10 years, and requires a documented succession plan.
• Category III covers RM5,000 to RM9,999, valid for up to 5 years, limited to certain approved sectors, and also requires a documented succession plan.

These thresholds doubled from the previous minimums (RM10,000 / RM5,000–9,999 / RM3,000–4,999 respectively) as part of a policy shift to ensure expatriate compensation better reflects senior, specialised roles.
