What HR compliance changes affect Malaysian employers in 2027?

Answer

From June 2027, Malaysia's minimum wage rises from RM1,700 to RM2,000 a month, with MSMEs below RM50 million in annual sales exempt for now. Budget 2027 also limits wage tax deductions to bank-paid salaries for companies other than MSMEs. Employers should also check foreign employee EPF contributions (2% since October 2025) and the June 2026 Employment Pass salary thresholds.
